The aim of the cours is to introduce students to:
- the determinants and economic implications of different innovation-related knowledge-sources, with different degrees of technological appropriability
- the links between market structure, its dynamics and innovation
- the basic principles of the diffusion of innovations as well as the specific problems of competition between technologies and standards
Most readings will consist of classic articles and book chapters from the economics of innovation literature, to be discussed in class
The overall notation will result from a weighted average of:
- In-class presentations of readings and essays (6/20)
- Written examination: 2 out of 3 questions on any topic in the programme, both from slides and readings à Sample Examination Sheets are available on the Moodle e-learning platform (14/20)
